Chase Headley to the Cubs?

Theo and the Cubs recently broke their offseason FA virginity by signing RF David DeJesus to a 2-year/$10 million contract. The contract includes a club option for 2014.

Looks like a trade may be next on Theo & Co. things to do list.

I was told last week by my source that the Cubs are heavily interested in Padres 3B Chase Headley. Earlier this week, Bruce Levine (ESPNCHI) confirmed my source’s reports. I’ve also been told by my source that Theo is so interested in acquiring Headley that this deal WILL get done, most likely sometime next week during the Winter Meetings.

Headley, 27, is a career .269/.343/.392 hitter. However, outside of PETCO Park Headley hits much better, batting .303/.364/.441. During his career, Headley has posted a 7.8 career UZR/150 showing he is a very good defender at the hot corner.

The Winter Meetings begin Monday, December 5th in Dallas, Texas.
